More than help. A real connection.
Companionship
Support that helps you keep living life on your own terms, in the home you love..
Real company - real independence.
Anyone can hire someone to do a task. What we offer is different: a genuine relationship — someone who shows up, again and again, who gets to know you, your stories, your rhythms, your home.Someone who is there not just to help you manage your day, but to share it with you. Because staying independent isn't just about getting things done. It's about staying yourself — in your own home, on your own terms, surrounded by real connection. Loneliness has become one of the biggest health risks older adults face today — as serious as smoking, according to the U.S. Surgeon General. It affects memory, mood, the heart, even how long we live. The antidote isn't a service. It's someone who's really there.
What that can look like
Everything we do together has one purpose:
helping you live your life, indepedent, self-determed, and truly yourself, in the home you love.
Who This Is For
This is for anyone who could benefit from support in daily life.
Needing help with certain things doesn't change who you are — you remain an adult, capable and independent, simply navigating this particular season with some company along the way.
Perhaps you're feeling lonely, and would welcome real connection: cooking a meal together, a walk around the neighborhood, an errand run side by side. Sharing your story, your interests, what ever matters to you — that's always welcome, but never expected.
I come to this work with genuine curiosity and an open heart.
For family members
If you're reading this on behalf of a parent — because you're worried, because you live far away, because you want to know they're not alone — you're welcome here too. I'm glad to talk with you directly. Together, we'll look at the whole picture: where your parent stands, what they want, and what kind of support might genuinely help. Please feel free to connect with me anytime.
Prices & Booking
-
The first step is simply to call or email me. From there, we'll schedule a home visit — up to 60 minutes, for a flat fee of $30, so we can get to know each other and look at what's needed.
Your intake fee counts toward your first package. There's no obligation to continue afterward — we'll simply see together whether this could be a good fit and helpful to you. If it is, booking is flexible: by the hour, or through a package that rewards regular visits. -
For occasional visits, errands, appointments, or outings.
Single Hour / $55
Half-day package / 3 hours $150 -
For anything more regular, a monthly package usually works out better than paying by the hour each time — and the more hours you commit to, the lower your rate.

Travel is billed separately from the rates above. Visits on Orcas Island add $15 per visit day. Visits to the other San Juan Islands add $55 per visit day, to cover ferry and travel time.
I do not come to deliver a service.
I come to be present with you.
About me
I'm Chiara, the heart behind Hearts Coming Home. For several years, I worked as a licensed psychotherapist in Germany, in my own practice. Today, here on Orcas Island, I'm building something new: real, everyday companionship for older adults.
I believe that growing older shouldn't mean growing lonelier — and that staying independent isn't just about getting things done, it's about having someone who truly shows up. That's what I want to offer: steady, reliable presence, and genuine company.
I'm completing my Home Care Aide training and certification through Cornerstone here in Washington State. Based on Orcas Island, I offer companionship in person, in English and German.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
No. Companionship is not medical care, nursing, or physical therapy. I don't manage medications or provide clinical treatment. What I offer is real presence, connection, and practical help with everyday life. If you need medical or nursing support, I'm glad to help point you toward the right resource.

I offer companionship on Orcas Island and throughout the San Juan Islands. If you're nearby and not sure whether you're in range, just reach out — we'll figure it out together.
-
Yes — I hold a limited number of sliding scale spots for families who need it, because I want real companionship to be genuinely accessible. At the same time, honoring my own capacity and needs matters to me too, so these spots are limited. If cost is a barrier for you, please reach out and let me know your situation — we'll see together what's possible.
-
Yes, absolutely. In our conversation, we'll take a look at the whole picture together — where your parent stands, what they want and don't want, and what kind of support you, as their family, feel would help. Please feel free to connect with me anytime.
-
That's absolutely possible. The rates above cover most situations, but if you need more extensive support, let's talk directly — we'll find an arrangement that works for your situation.
